starting my first meta painting.

I am working on a new style of painting that I’m calling meta art (which I’m doing in parallel with my coloring pages), but a full description of what meta art is all about will have to wait for its own “manifesto” sometime this spring.

For now, I just wanted to share a quick behind the scenes look at what I hope will be the first of these meta paintings.

Yesterday, I just finished painting this reflective golden picture frame within the split black/white canvas, and it was the most challenging and rewarding painting work I’ve done to date. It literally took weeks, but I’m quite happy with the result so far.

With this first step finally done, I’m ready to move into phase two (which I hope will be completed by the end of January) and I’ll share more about this painting/style soon…
